Ultimate Fantastic Four, Vol. 2

Ultimate Fantastic Four, Vol. 2 - Warren Ellis, Mike Carey, Adam Kubert, Jae Lee

OK, technically this volume also has 'Fantastic Four Annual #1', but since I also have 'Ultimate Annuals #1', I'll just save that for later.

That means, of course that this review only applies to "N-Zone" and the two-parter reinvention of the Mad Thinker.

That's enough, though. The battle with Nihil (the Ultimate version of Annihilus) was that the Fantastic Four and their abilities could no longer be a secret. It makes sense then that they would be (almost) seamlessly incorporated into the Ultimates during the battle with Gah Lak Tus, but I get ahead of myself.

I think most of the 'points' for this volume go for the twisted re-imagining of the Mad Thinker, a, in my mind, minor and slightly goofy classic villain. She is fucked up in this universe. Keep in mind, Tony Stark was able to get Obadiah Stane into the Baxter Building, and yet Rhona Burchill was too psychotic? You'll believe it after reading her two issues.
