Ultimate X-Men: Ultimate Collection, Vol. 1

It's only in the past year that I really began to dig into the back history of the X-Men, reading all of the 'Astonishing' issues up to the early 1990s, and reintroducing myself to characters I'd only known through the cartoons and the new issues.
Here is a giant reset button for the regular series. I'm wondering what happened to cut Angel out of the opening cast, but I love the modern take on the X-Men, and it was a relief to escape from a lot of that cluttered, awkward continuity that 40 years added to the characters.
For the first time you can read the X-Men and believe the young ages attributed to them, with the exception of Kitty Pryde in the original series, that had never been done convincingly enough for me. She hasn't made an appearance yet, by the way, but I'll be patient.
Anyway, love it, love it, love it - glad I've got Book 2 on hand so I can dive right back in.
