Road to Death, Lost Mark #2 by Matt Forbeck
After a very eventful time in the Mournland - I think Kandler got Espre back twice only to lose her a few pages later - that included visiting a mentally unbalanced positive-energy undead Elf, various living spells and I forgot to mention one detail Forbeck added to the Mournland in 'Marked for Death', which was the mobile warforged city of Construct. It was very cool and I don't believe it was in the manuals.
Kandler is after the changling Te'oma who has taken Espre away again at the behest of Vol herself. Accompanied by Burch, Sallah, the last redshirt other paladin Brendis, and the warforged Xalt they make their way across the Talenta Plains after the airship carrying the Espre and Te'oma away.
This book covers more of the Mournland, the Talenta Plains, Fort Bones and a cursed mountain in the Mror Holds. The constant encounters kept the pace up, but the only saving grace of the book was really the changeling Te'oma who is a great example of Eberron's capacity to have characters do evil and be antagonists, without being evil themselves.
There is a love plot, but it felt really awkward. The end of the book promises us a trip to Aerenal and the Undying Court.
